  I have had the opportunity to do illustrations for book covers and for book texts. This requires that I take into consideration the author's and the publisher's ideas of what they want for style, size, media, and especially subject in order to enhance the efforts they have made with the text.

  Sometimes the illustrations I do are adjusted to accomodate titles or to enhance color, contrast, and lighting effects. Usually I work in watercolor for color designs and add more detail in pen-and-ink. I often work in pencil or in pen-and-ink for designs that will be printed as black-and-white images. Occassionally, I'll use acrylics on canvas for illustrations in order to incorporate the texture of canvas into the image.
