I use watercolors primarily to do studies and sketches for scenes that I might use in paintings on canvas. You won't see any of those. They're just a loose way to work out the layout and values I'll want to use. I like to use watercolors when I travel or hike because they're so transportable and quick. It's not always possible to haul around an easel and several canvases. I have great memories of sitting on the cliffs on the east face of Monhegan island off the coast of Maine, trying to capture the quickly changing atmosphere. |
